The course “First Aid for Mental Health (EHMG)” provides basic knowledge about holistic (mental) health and shows how people can be accompanied mindfully and supportively in stressful situations.
Similar to first aid for the body, you don’t need to be a doctor or therapist to do this. It’s not about diagnosing, but about observing, addressing the issue, and building a bridge to the appropriate help . EHMG applies precisely this approach to mental health.
The course is designed for professionals in social, educational, religious, or counseling fields, as well as for people without prior knowledge . Participants learn to recognize early warning signs of stress, to engage in sensitive conversations, and to guide those affected to appropriate support services.
At the same time, EHMG goes beyond pure crisis assistance : The course also teaches preventive approaches that help to strengthen mental health in everyday life and to address stress early on.
A special component of the course is the integration of GROW® personality diagnostics as an add-on (at discounted special rates) , which enables participants to better understand mental health with regard to their own personality, motives and stress patterns.
Furthermore, EHMG is the only course in Germany that consciously incorporates spirituality and questions of meaning as a resource for mental health, alongside scientific principles .
Practical exercises and concrete discussion prompts in the course, consisting of seven 120-minute modules, strengthen confidence in everyday life – at work, in voluntary work, and in private settings. The goal is to reduce inhibitions and empower more people: everyone can become a bridge to help.
